Rally Obedience Resources

So you want to get started in rally obedience, but don't know where to turn first? Here are some resources to help you get started:

About Rally Obedience

Geoff Stern's Introduction to Rally is a great place to start. It explains what rally is, how the course is laid out, and where to look for more information. This is the handout he gives to his classes, and it's included here with Geoff's kind permission.

There are a number of organizations that sponsor rally events. AKC is the biggest game in town, so it's easiest to find classes in the area that train in AKC rally. Don't despair if you want to play in other "leagues" as well, though. Once you know the AKC rally exercises, you know 85-90% of the exercises in other venues you might want to enter. The rally area on the Starisles Beardies Web site contains links to some of the major rally organizations.

The Rules

Go here to download AKC's rally rule book and signs.

Go here to read about APDT rally, and to download rules, signs, and sample forms.
